How do I run Game Night in my store?

By design, running Game Night is very easy for you and your players. Follow these simple steps and you will be all set to begin Game Night when it debuts in September:

  1. Visit Organizer Tools and you will see a large “Click to Enroll” button in green.
    • If you are not already an organizer, you can sign up here.
  2. Once you’ve clicked to enroll, a notification will pop up letting you know your enrollment was successful.
  3. Our system will then automatically create your events every month. When they are ready for the event fee to be submitted, you will receive an e-mail letting you know.
    • Events will be auto-created two months in advance and you will have six weeks from that date to submit your event fee.
  4. Once your payment has been processed you will be all set to run Game Nights for that month.

Note: You will receive your Game Night foils and pins about two weeks before the first event of the month. The entire month of Game Night prizes will be sent together, so please remember that eight foil tokens and two pins are to be given out each week.

Game Night is now open to local game stores worldwide! If you have any questions, please visit our Game Night page for more information or send us an email at

How do you recommend I compensate my judges for Invitational Qualifiers?

Properly compensating your judges is extremely important because if it weren’t for them, there would be no event. Most judges have an expectation of their compensation being valued at the equivalent of a box of the most recent set. Being flexible in your judge compensation is going to create a better relationship between you and the judge and make them more willing to come back and judge more of your events. You can offer them store credit, cash, or maybe you even have some rare cards they are looking for. For Super IQs and Elite IQs, we recommend the above compensation plan for all judges with the expectation that you will provide a little something extra for the Head Judge.

Don’t forget to email us at with your mailbag questions!

Why hasn’t my event been approved yet?

Your request has not been lost! We do our best to avoid scheduling our events too near Pro Tour Qualifiers, especially in high-volume areas where it’s already hard to avoid conflict. We’re approving events in those areas as the PTQ schedule is released. Remember that those with higher Organizer Rewards status and those who submitted their requests first will get priority approval if there are multiple requests for the same date—just another reason to level up your Organizer Rewards! If you have any more questions regarding scheduling or want to see a question featured in next month’s mailbag, email us at and we’ll get it answered!

In what formats can I run my Invitational Qualifiers?

Invitational Qualifiers can be any of four formats: Standard, Modern, Legacy, and Sealed. While $25 is the maximum entry fee you may charge players for Constructed IQs (Standard, Modern, and Legacy), you may charge up to $30 for Sealed IQs. Open Trials are more flexible, as any Magic format is acceptable and entry fees are determined by you, the tournament organizer. If you have questions about tournament formats or you want to ask something else for the mailbag, please send us an email at and we’ll be happy to assist!

If I am a Level 3 Organizer in 2014, will my Organizer Rewards Status roll over into next year?

Yes, your Organizer Status carries over year to year based on your cumulative points earned during the previous calendar year. For example, if you earn Level 3 Organizer Status during 2014, you will begin 2015 as a Level 3 Organizer. In 2015, however, if you only earn enough points to reach Level 2 Organizer Status, then you will begin 2016 as a Level 2 Organizer. Although your status may change from year to year, your total unused points will still be valid and redeemable as long as you have an organizer account with us. When you are ready to redeem your points, don’t forget that all you need to do is email us at and we will credit those points toward your next event! We are excited that there will soon be a “Point Store” in the payment section of Organizer Tools, in which you will be able to do this yourself when you are ready to redeem your points!

I am having trouble scheduling an event due to conflicts in my area. What can I do?

While we know this can be frustrating for some organizers, there are a couple things you can do to help secure dates for your events:

  • Become a Level 3 Organizer. You can do this by earning 5,000 Organizer Rewards Points, which then grants you three days Priority Scheduling ahead of Level 1 and 2 Organizers. As you continue to earn more and more Organizer Rewards Points and gain higher status, your Priority Scheduling time increases as well. Level 4 Organizers earn five days Priority Scheduling, and Level 5 Organizers earn seven days Priority Scheduling. Double Point events and Bonus Points are also two great ways to help you earn even more points than by just running regular events.

  • Be on the lookout in your inboxes, where we let you know when new scheduling windows open up.

  • Cross-promote with other area organizers to increase the availability of the calendar and to encourage even more players to attend your event.

We try our best to work with you to find dates for your events, so if you are ever having trouble finding a date or need assistance please feel free to email us and we will do whatever we can to help!

When will I receive my Organizer Rewards Points for my events?

In Organizer Tools, Organizer Rewards Points are calculated in a two-step process:

  1. Pending Points are added automatically when your event fee for any Open Trial or Invitational Qualifier is received.
  2. Pending Points convert to Available Points after the completion of your event for Open Trials and after your WER file has been uploaded for Invitational Qualifiers.

Available Points are what you may use to purchase future events, while Total Points reflect total points accumulated and your Organizer Rewards Status Level. If you have any questions regarding your points, please feel free to email us at, and don’t forget to email us when you’re ready to redeem your Organizer Rewards Points!

When can I sign up for an Open Trial?

We recently made changes to the timing for Open Trial scheduling due to organizer feedback. You can now sign up for an Open Trial for any date during the season just like you can for an Invitational Qualifier! Dates that are requested for weekdays will be automatically approved; dates that are requested for weekends will be approved six weeks before the event. As normal, the latest you can sign up is three weeks before a date.

You can schedule your Open Trials inside Organizer Tools. These changes to scheduling Open Trials are already in effect, so be sure to schedule yours today!

How can I earn bonus Organizer Rewards Points?

Organizer Rewards Points are more valuable than ever! Not only can you use them to purchase free events, but they also unlock special benefits such as advance scheduling, priority approval, and more! Earning Organizer Rewards Points is so easy–simply run events! We’ve also added the ability to earn bonus Organizer Rewards Points by doing what you are already required to do for your events: pay and report your events on time!

How do I find a judge for my event?

Finding a judge for your events can be a daunting task. Luckily, there are many resources out there to help you connect with the many judges in the program!

How do you go about finding the right one for your location? The first, and easiest way, is to simply ask around. Your local players, especially those who travel around to large events like Open Series or Grand Prix have probably come into contact with Judges and may even be friends with one. Having someone you both know to introduce you can make things go very quickly.

If you can’t find any leads locally, you can contact the In-Store Programs Team and we will assist you in finding a judge. Thanks to the Open Series, we know many judges from around the world and can use those as a resource to help in search. We will also be happy to introduce you to one of the best resources at your disposal, your Regional Coordinator (RC). Read more
